Our story
Empower Homes was created during the lock down of 2020 by husband and wife team Maarten and Lisa Mocking. Lisa and Maarten have been investing in property since 2007 when they bought their first apartment in South-West London to rent out, but although they built a small portfolio of rental properties across England all the way up to Lancashire their jobs in aviation remained the main income stream. When COVID-19 and the resulting lock down hit the UK, and the aviation industry was being decimated, they had to re-think their strategy. That is when Empower Homes was born!
At Empower Homes we pride ourselves on offering stylish, comfortable homes and apartments at competitive rates for both short- and long-term stays. All our properties are fully furnished and form an ideal base for any length of stay that comes with the convenience of a hotel, but with the flexibility and comforts of your own home. Originally from Holland, my professional background is in aviation. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in Mechanical Engineering and all things technical. I combined this passion with my love for airplanes, and so I became a Licensed Aircraft Engineer and Pilot working in private aviation. Aircraft owners left their expensive assets in my care, taking their friends and family for flights knowing they could fully trust the quality and diligence I put in my work.
Built on these foundations I have formed outstanding professional ethics which have become second nature, and I work and live according my personal motto “Perfection is in the detail”. This level of attention to detail now runs through the very heart of our serviced accommodation business.

Having stayed in hotels worldwide I am now excited to provide an experience for our guests that is nothing short of perfection.

We have been investing in property since 2007, when we bought our first apartment in South West London.
The ambition to increase the number of properties we owned made us decide to invest heavily in our property education to vastly increase our knowledge. Over the years we have spent tens of thousands of pounds on property education, gaining in depth knowledge on all the relevant subjects such as property investment strategies, finance, tax, and health and safety, just to name a few.
Armed with all this knowledge we expanded our portfolio across the country, via the Midlands all the way to the North East of England. We now focus on working with Landlords to increase our Serviced Accommodation portfolio, offering high quality properties for short-term lets.
